【Sports Inspires!】June Highlights

【🔥June Event Highlights】Community Together Carnival

The Community Together Carnival, funded by Link Together Initiatives, was a resounding success during the Father’s Day weekend of 15-16 June.

The event drew support from notable athletes, including former gymnast Ng Kiu-chung, current basketball player Lee Ki, and cross-country runner and Home Run head coach Wong Ho-chung. Lee Ki and Wong Ho-chung attended with their children, engaging in AR sports games and parent-child sports challenges such as bowling, frisbee, and under-table football.

Over the two days, the carnival attracted nearly 900 local residents. Participants collaborated in various sports games, winning fantastic prizes whilst experiencing the joy of parent-child sporting activities. The instant photo booth was particularly popular, with families capturing memories and children crafting heartfelt greeting cards as meaningful Father’s Day gifts.

【🔥June Event Highlights】“Sporthesion” Community Day

As part of the “Jebsen InspiringHK!” Long-term Sports Training Programme, the “Sporthesion” Community Day, dedicated to promoting sports and mental health awareness, was successfully held on 9 June at Kwun Tong Free Space.

A highlight was the “Sports Mime” session, where parents and children were encouraged to use their imagination and body movements to act out sports and daily life scenes. Six partnering organisations were also invited to set up booths that provide games and activities related to mental health and quality of life, with the aim of deepening public’s understanding of personal well-being and healthy lifestyles.

We also offered participants with various sports-tasting including floorball and spikeball. These hands-on experiences allowed families and community members to enjoy the benefits of engaging in sports.

【💻Team Talk】Celebrating our first half of 2024!

The IHKSports full-time team gathered with board members in late June to conclude and celebrate the key achievements of the first half of the year. We were privileged to be invited to visit the “A Path to Glory – Jin Yong’s Centennial Memorial, Sculpted by Ren Zhe”, held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Jin Yong’s birth. This was followed by a commendation dinner, generously sponsored by board members,  where colleagues joyfully shared the challenges and rewards of their work over the past six months. Board members expressed their recognition of everyone’s hard work, motivating the team to continue striving towards our vision of empowering “better youths through sports”.
