【Sports Inspires!】October Highlights

The InspiringHK! Sports TRYiumph Project :
Graduation Ceremony for SEN Parent-child sports classes

The InspiringHK! Sports TRYiumph Project, co-funded by the Chow Tai Fook Charity Foundation and the Partnership Fund for the Disadvantaged, has offered 14 parent-child sports classes in collaboration with different community centres during the summer holiday. A graduation ceremony was held on 29 September to celebrate the achievements of our SEN students and their parents for completing the sports classes, also to build a supportive network among these parents.

On the day of the graduation ceremony, kids and their parents had a great time enjoying four exciting sports experience sessions, including handball, Popdarts, Latin dance, and karate, displaying incredible enthusiasm! It was truly heartwarming to witness how sports have strengthened their family bonds!

The Sixth Season of WELL DUNK! Officially Kicks Off

In September and October, WELL DUNK! welcomed 20 boys’ teams and 8 girls’ teams to its sixth season. During the orientation day, students and coaches met for the first time and enjoyed their training session together. Representatives from the teams’ title-sponsors also attended the orientation day to interact with the students.

The students from the 20 boys’ teams and 8 girls’ teams will officially represent 28 public estates as they embark on a year-long journey of basketball training and league competitions. Alongside intensive training, they will compete in their first competition – the pre-season games in November. This will provide them with the opportunity to apply the techniques and skills they have learned. We look forward to their teamwork and impressive performance on the court!

“Skinflex Club” : Flex your skin and embrace your glow!

Funded by HKEX Foundation, we are excited to launch our brand new “Skinflex Club” programme. This initiative is designed to provide 18 hours of air-conditioned indoor sports classes for primary school students with skin conditions, particularly eczema. Additionally, we offer practical information for parents and caregivers through health information talks led by our professional advisory team and two focus groups.

We have kickstarted “Skinflex Club” with our first batch of participants and the students are thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to learn various sports. Caregivers are also benefiting from the health talks, gaining valuable insights to better support their children with skin concerns.

【💻Team Talk】Team Wellness Day!

In October, Hong Kong hosted the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup, and to embrace the sport’s growing popularity, we were thrilled to invite Ms. Minerva Tai, the captain of the Hong Kong Baseball5 team, to lead a trial Baseball5 session for IHKSports team!

During the two-hour experience, our team realised that the sport is not just about passing and catching skills but also serves as crucial training for intuitive decision-making and teamwork spirit. It was a delightful and engaging experience that not only strengthened our team’s bond but also introduced us to a new and exciting sport, enhancing our collective learning and fostering a sense of unity within our team.
