📖 IHKSports Alumni Story — Becoming Basketball Officials

To encourage WELL DUNK! Alumni who are 18 or above to turn their passion for basketball into a career, and explore paths beyond being players or coaches, Dah Sing Bank supported IHKSports in organising a basketball referee and competition helper training. The programme consisted of three theory lectures, two on-court practical sessions, one practicum and an exam. This ensured that participants established a solid foundation and gained sufficient experience.
Participants who passed the exam will not only be qualified as assistant referees or competition helpers for next WELL DUNK! season, but will also receive subsidies to obtain the widely recognised umpire qualification from the Schools Sports Federation of Hong Kong, China, creating more opportunities for their future.

“I am very passionate about basketball, but the chance of becoming a professional player is not particularly high. Therefore, I am interested in exploring alternative career paths that are related to basketball.”
— Chun-tong“Interpreting the rules of the game is more challenging than I had imagined. Fortunately, with the instructor’s patient guidance, I have gained more confidence. After completing this course, I hope to obtain the HKSSF qualification soon so to pursue more job opportunities.”
