“WELL DUNK! has been a supportive presence throughout my journey as I grew up.”
This year marks the fourth year that Liu Shu Yi has participated in WELL DUNK!.
He describes WELL DUNK! as a nurturing presence that has accompanied him throughout his growth. Initially, Shu Yi knew nothing about basketball and was unfamiliar with court tactics; he could only sit on the bench for every game. However, over time, he began to get opportunities to play in his second year, and now he has become a starter for the team. He candidly states that being a starter has provided him with opportunities to learn and compete, helping him better understand his strengths and weaknesses.
He is also grateful for the training exchange programme he participated in, which allowed him to share the basketball skills and knowledge he acquired with younger students at his school. Shu Yi admits that the greatest lesson he has learned over the past few years is to accept failure. Despite the team’s talent, they have only made it to the quarter-finals last year. Reflecting on those past moments with some regret, he hopes that this year, he and his team can advance to the Gold Cup and make up for past disappointments.
