Introduction

InspiringHK Dream Factory, funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and organised by InspiringHK Sports Foundation, is a three-year initiative launching in late 2025. The programme promotes 3×3 basketball to spark fun, energy, and a love for sports among young children. It offers age-appropriate training while trains young coaches to teach 3×3 basketball and promote the urban sports. Ultimately, it boosts physical and mental well-being, deepens sports engagement, and strengthens the Hong Kong community.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

1. Mini Hoopers: Introduction to 3×3 Basketball

Feature: Simple, movement-based basketball games designed to spark joy of 3×3 basketball and foster meaningful family engagement

Target Participants: 4 to 6 years old students and their parents

Activities Include:

  • 3×3 Basketball Tasting Workshop
  • Take-home Sports Mission and Handicraft Competition
  • Parent-child Sports Day

2. Rising Stars – 3×3 Basketball Development in Primary Schools

A. In-school Basketball Training

Feature:

  • Crafted course plan in collaboration with a diverse expert panel—including sports psychologists, professional coaches, and child development specialists
  • Structured 3×3 basketball training led by professional coaches, fostering children’s personal development and skill mastery

Target Participants: 6 to 13 years old students (Distributed in U9, U11 and U13 age group)

Activities Include:

  • Regular 3×3 basketball training in school
  • Hoop Showdown – 3×3 Basketball Tournament

B. Level UP! – Basketball Skill Advancement Clinics

Feature: Thematic workshops that dive into specialised basketball techniques to boost skills and passions

Target Participants: 6 to 13 years old students

C. Train-the-Trainer Course

Feature: 

  • Provide young coaches fundamental trainings on teaching 3×3 basketball for children
  • Empowers aspiring coaches to confidently deliver “Rising Star” Basketball Training Course Plan
  • Future coaching opportunities for outstanding trainers

Target Participants: 18-25 years old who are aspired to be basketball coaches (Students studying sports or education related subjects are highly preferred)

Activities Include:

  • 32-hour face-to-face trainings including lectures and on-the-court coaching
  • Training topics covered sports psychology, child development and 3×3 basketball coaching method
  • Practicum

3. Hoop Showdown 3×3 Tournament

Feature: 

  • A 2-day inter-school 3×3 basketball tournament that ties together the training pathways into a showcase of skill, teamwork, and community spirit
  • Complemented with array of interactive booths, mini-contests and sports tasting

Target Participants: 6-13 years old students and their families
