Child Safeguarding Policy
Our Child Safeguarding Policy
As a sports charity, IHKSports is committed to advocating safeguarding children in Hong Kong. With reference to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), we have formulated a comprehensive “Children Safeguarding Policy” to protect the children and youths who receive our services. This policy provides the overarching principles for all of our staff, coaches and volunteers to follow.
The full version of our Child Safeguarding Policy can be found here .
Awareness Raising and Training
IHKSports takes reasonable measures to ensure that all parties who will have contact with children and their personal information, including but not limited to new full-time staff, part-time employees and contractors, understand and will be abided by the Children Safeguarding Policy. The corresponding measures include but are not limited to:
Requiring new staff members to conduct Sexual Conviction Record Check (SCRC) administered by the Hong Kong Police Force before coming on board, and checking and verifying the proof document; requiring new contractors and part-time employees to sign the relevant declaration in our Child Safeguarding Policy, and providing onboarding and annual training about safeguarding children to staffs, coaches and contractors.
Our Reporting Procedures
Anyone (including but not limited to IHKSports’ staff, volunteers, coaches, venue person-in-charge, parents or children) who has concerns about our Child Safeguarding Policy or children’s safety issues, please contact our Child Protection Officer via email (cpo@inspiringhk.org) or phone (+852 560 560 13). Please click here to see the report form. Due to the sensitive nature of the matter, confidentiality must always be maintained. All written correspondence must be marked “Private & Confidential” and sent to those on a “need-to-know basis” only. One may also raise a concern on an anonymous basis via email.
After receiving the reports, our Child Protection Officer will investigate the incident on a confidential basis and will work with the Risk and Compliance Committee to take appropriate action (see image below).

Our Teaching Materials for Safeguarding Children
IHKSports Child Safeguarding Brochure
In the first class, we will distribute the IHKSports Child Safeguarding Brochure and teach the students to stay away from the risks and harm they may have when doing sports and the way to protect themselves with the leaflet and video. Furthermore, parents will be informed that we have a mature set of Children Safeguarding Policy, relevant measures and reporting procedures.

Our Child Safeguarding Learning Platform

IHKSports Coaching for Youth Academy (The Academy) is the first and foremost online learning platform constructed by InspiringHK Sports Foundation (IHKSports) consisting of learning resources for sport educators. With a variety of online resources conducted by professionals, the platform aims to enrich users’ professional knowledge on empowering children and youths through the concept of “sports for development” and child safeguarding. On top of that, The Academy aims to connect coaches and target users by providing volunteering or social impactful opportunities.
The Safeguarding session is sponsored by the Funding Scheme for Children’s Well-being and Development of the Commission on Children. The interactive online learning course teaches sports coaches, physical education teachers, social workers, youth workers and parents how to safeguard children. The course is free-of-charge and learners who have completed the whole course will be issued a course completion certificate (5 total learning hours).
