A Window to the World from a 100-Square-Foot Home
Click the title to read the full story“I may not have the means to show my children the world, but IHKSports has opened their eyes. Seeing them share their passion for sports with others gives me so much peace.”
These are the heartfelt words of Jin Jin’s mother. She lives with her three children in a cramped subdivided flat in To Kwa Wan, where every inch of floor space is reclaimed by their belongings. For three energetic children, “living space” is a luxury they simply don’t have. “Our home is so tiny and cluttered,” Mom says. “Most of the time, the only place they have to move is on their beds.”
Three years ago, Jin Jin’s mother discovered Home Sweat Home, a community programme organsied by IHKSports. Designed specifically for families living in inadequate housing, the programme helps children build healthy exercise habits while providing resources to improve their living environment. The moment she realised her family qualified, she signed up 7-year-old Jin Jin immediately. That decision changed everything for their family.
Help us reach more children and teenagers in need. Your support gives those living in cramped spaces a stage where they can truly shine.
🏃♂️ From a Subdivided Flat to Center Stage
Jin Jin has always been a ball of energy. Through the programme, he has explored everything from roller skating and K-pop dance to karate. What warms his mother’s heart most is seeing him dance at home; even in their tiny flat, he can’t help but move to the beat.
“He finally found something he loves, so I enrolled him in “STREET DANCE Inspires!” under MOVE70! Curriculum. I want him to keep learning.”
Unlike typical interest classes, MOVE70! Curriculum is a long-term sports training program, combining 60 hours of professional sports training with 10 hours of learning activities and performance opportunities. For Jin Jin, the progress has been transformative—not only in his coordination and flexibility but in his soaring confidence.
After every class, he rushes home to show off his new moves. “Hearing the coach praise him makes me so happy,” Mom shares. “But more importantly, it gives him a real sense of accomplishment he couldn’t find anywhere else.”

Your support helps children break through financial barriers. Don’t let poverty limit their dreams.
💕 Sports: Healing a Family’s Bonds
The transformation didn’t stop with Jin Jin.
What started as a mother simply supporting her son turned into her own fitness journey. By participating in parent-child classes, she began exercising regularly for the first time in her life.
“Exercising with a group gives me motivation. It helps relieve the stress and exhaustion of daily life. Even though our home is small, I’ve started doing simple stretches on the bed.”
Beyond physical health, sports opened doors to a new community. She has connected with other neighborhood parents, sharing the ups and downs of raising a family in difficult circumstances.
“Talking to other parents and supporting each other makes my heart feel so much lighter.”

“I never had the habit of exercising. I only joined for Jin Jin, but I never expected him to enjoy it so much—and now, I’ve fallen in love with it too.” Your donation does more than fund sports; it reconnects families.
🔥Sweat Inspires Sweat: A Brother’s Basketball Dream
Jin Jin’s resilience has become an inspiration at home. He insists on attending class even when he’s feeling under the weather, growing into a social, confident young boy. This spark eventually reached his older brother, who had always been quiet and physically less active.
Since joining WELL DUNK!, IHKSports’ flagship programme, the older brother has received professional basketball training that has made him physically stronger and mentally brighter. “I wish I had known about IHKSports sooner so he could have started earlier,” Mom admits. “As a mother, my only wish is for them to grow up healthy and stay on the right path.”
Every donation is the fuel that helps a young person break through their circumstances. Join us in supporting IHKSports training programmes.
🏠 Care Beyond the Court: The Story of an Induction Cooker
During a home visit, we discovered that the family’s induction cooker had been broken for months. For a family that cannot afford to eat out even once a year, this was a crsis.
“We cook every meal at home. Since the cooker broke, we’ve been trying to cook everything in a rice cooker. The subsidy from the programme allowed me to buy a new cooker and pots. It was a huge help.”
While the new household items improved their quality of life, she is most grateful for how the programme filled the “gaps” in her children’s lives.
“My children are so well-behaved. They know our financial situation, so they never ask for toys. Even a birthday cake is a luxury.”
Now, with both sons finding joy in sports, the family is closer than ever.

That, to her, is the greatest reward.
Your Support is Creating Real Change
In 2024-25, Home Sweat Home provided 4,112 hours of sports training to 140 children and 117 parents. To date, the programme has reached over 900 people with nearly 15,000 total training hours. Behind these numbers are families like Jin Jin’s who have rediscovered their smiles through sports.
Our goal is to raise HK$500,000 to serve more underprivileged youth. Help us open a window to the world for children living in 100-square-foot homes.
